Style and then some presents the Fashion's Night Out London Tweetup 2011 #fashiontweetup fashion tweetup fashion event twitter fashion event

Us Style & Then Some girls are getting very excited because there is now just one week to go until our Fashion’s Night Out Tweetup on Thursday 8th September. We’re so pleased to see so many people have clicked attending on the Facebook event, or have tweeted using that all-important #fashiontweetup hashtag, and we’ve heard from lots more people who are coming so we’re expecting a good turn out.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Below is a recap of all the details. Seven sleeps to go! And oh god I haven’t even planned my outfit yet. See you next week.

What is it a tweetup?
Twitter + meet up = tweet up. It’s a idea invented by computer geeks to give people who talk on Twitter the chance to meet in person. And us fashion geeks are adding fashion to that equation because that’s what we’re all about. Using the hashtag #fashiontweetup we want to extend the invite to bring together as many people as possible. Whether you work in fashion, study fashion, blog about it, or just plain love it, come along to the tweet up and meet some like-minded people.

Why?
We realised that we know lots of really cool people on Twitter who we want to meet in person. Having learned that trying to meet up with them during London Fashion Week often proves very difficult because of hectic schedules, we thought a tweetup just before fashion week would be the perfect solution. We don’t like to think of it as networking per se, more a friendly social occasion, but if you make some valuable contacts too then that’s great.

When?
Thursday 8th September from 6pm onwards. We’ve chosen that date because it also happens to be Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out (but we’re not officially affliated with the event or anything). There will be hundreds of retailers taking part on nearby Oxford Street so we can combine shopping and socializing in perfect harmony.

Where?
The Red Lion, a good old fashioned pub just off Carnaby Street in Soho, central London. 14, Kingly St, London, W1B 5PP. Nearest tube is Oxford Circus. Click here for a map.

Who?
There will be us bloggers from Style & Then Some (Katie, Helen, Sophie and Sophie C) for sure, plus all the tweeple we can gather.

So spread the word – click attending here on the Facebook event, follow @style_thensome on Twitter for updates and, most importantly, get tweeting and retweeting with the hashtag #fashiontweetup so that others can get involved. Any questions? Email styleandthensome@gmail.com.

Having spent  last weekend up in the North, it was lovely to see Manchester’s community spirit flourish in the wake of recent rioting.  Although some of the shops are still boarded up shells, the majority of the City’s people have pulled together.  A tribute to this can be seen in the Arndale shopping centre, where Manchester’s ‘Wall of Love’ has invited individuals to post-it messages of support.  Despite the odd ‘so and so loves blah blah’ most of them are really heart warming.

Even Harry Potter has left a message apparently! (Can you spot it?).
