Azealia Banks hangs out with her (Alexander) Wang Out
There are a limited number of musicians/rappers/singers who so successfully ooze originality as well as Azealia Banks does,or raw attitude for that matter. The Harlem-raised self-proclaimed ‘vocalist’ (apparently she doesn’t care for the term ‘rapper’) isn’t stopping here though. She’s had the High Priest of fashion-cool, Alexander Wang himself, clambouring to collaborate with her for a second season, and as such,Alexander Wang has announced her as the face for T.
After the diffusion line borrowed Ms. Banks’ stand out track, 212, for the soundtrack to their SS12 campaign video, the label has gone one step further for AW12 and produced a one minute wonder of a campaign video, featuring a gyrating, enigmatic and engaging Azealia rocking out to her song Van Vogue. Described by Wang himself as capturing a ‘collision of energies’ the promo clip manages to not only reflect Banks’ rawness and attitude, but also remind you of the effortlessness of the T line, and just how damned cool it is. Having previously employed the likes of Santigold and Spank Rock, Alexander Wang sure knows a good thing when he sees (or hears) it, and it looks like his love affair with Azealia might only just be blossoming…
