You know what this weather calls for? Thermal jeans.

by blondekatie

Here’s the first of a bunch of posts wherein I road test a pair of Angels and Men thermal jeans.

Check this out for a stroke of luck: Jaclyn, a friend of mine who work for Task PR emailed me a couple of weeks ago asking if I wanted to try out some thermal jeans and blog what I thought of them. Lo and behold, the day they arrived (all prettily packaged as you can see below) was the day Jack Frost (or should that be Jack Snow?) reared his ugly head and the whole of Europe was beset by freezing temperatures. Couldn’t be better weather to try out some super insulated jeans right?

Right. Because let me tell you, these jeans are SO warm. As someone who regular wears tights under my jeans, I think they’re a genius idea. They’re by a company called Angels and Men and they’ve got a lovely fine fleecy thermal lining that feels really nice on your skin – it’s way more pleasurable than pulling on freezing cold pair of jeans. For their first outing, to a sushi making class (which was so fun – I’ll blog about it soon) in Hammersmith last Sunday I wore my straight cut dark wash jeans tucked into my wellies – because the pavements were coated in slippery half-frozen snow and anyone in less than appropriate footwear (I’m talking about those moronic girls I saw in peeptoe heels and no tights the night before) was at risk of a) hypothermia, or b) falling on their arse. With my fur coat, gloves, scarf and beret all in place I think I was the warmest person in London that day.

Coat - vintage Ebay; scarf - charity shop; jeans - Angels and Men; beret - H&M; wellies - Joules at John Lewis.

I’ll continue road testing my Angels and Men thermal jeans as part of the #AMstylechallenge and let you know how I get on. I’m thinking a walk in Epping Forest this weekend could be the perfect time for their next trial run.

#TodayImWearing – Menswear Day at LFW

by blondekatie

We’re on the home strait. It’s day six of London Fashion Week and the first time I’ve ever stayed for menswear day, which they dramatically term MAN day (watch out for show reports coming soon). My outfit is basically an amalgamation of several of other pieces I’ve worn in the past week. Maybe this is a massive fashion faux pas, but you try coming up with six equally fashion week worthy ensembles in a row OK?

Katie Wright at London Fashion Week

Zara blazer, vintage pussy bow blouse, skirt and clutch, H&M boots and socks.

I also drafted in my boyfriend Alex to be my photographer. He’s wearing a bow tie I bought him for his birthday and got photographed outside the Topman show by GQ because of it. Double style win I reckon.

Alex Emberey at London Fashion Week

H&M blazer and shirt, Burton trousers, Sanders shoes, vintage bow tie.

#TodayImWearing – Katie and Helene on day four of LFW

by blondekatie

It’s day four of London Fashion Week and with the weekend over Team S&TS is considerably depleted. Most of our gang have gone back to work but LFW continues apace for photographer Helene and I. Today I was excited to be premiering a new blazer I got especially for fashion week (don’t believe anyone who tells you they don’t make extra effort with their outfits for the shows) and I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty pleased that I got snapped by about 5 street style photographers after the Michael van der Ham show (which you can see a video of over here).

#TodayImWearing: Katie and Sophie Day Two of LFW

by Sophie Caldecott

Well, that should really be ‘yesterday I was wearing’… You’ll be glad to hear my camera has been fixed after its adventures out and about London Fashion Week with Style and Then Some, so I can share a little bit more of our LFW style.

Our ever stylish editor Katie, below, mixed a vintage M&S 80′s shirt with a high-waisted vintage skirt from Blitz on Brick Lane with H&M boots and socks.

I played it safe in a navy wool maxi dress from ASOS, worn with a pair of scruffy lace-up old boots. No running in heels for me.

#TodayImWearing: Katie, Katie and Helene Day Three of LFW

by sophiecha

Frantically swapping tickets after an envelope mix-up disaster, the (extended) S&TS team found a little downtime between shows for LFW posing. We’ve always got energy when someone points a camera at us..

#TodayI’mWearing: Sophie and Sophie Day One of LFW

by sophiecha

Too many invites, too many “muses” and “style icons” in our way, not enough time = what I like to call Fashion Eek. But Sophie and Sophie still kept it together on their first morning running between shows.

Today I’m wearing: the Nixon Kensington

by blondekatie
Nixon Kensington watch Nixon watches Nixon Kensington blue gold Nixon Kensington womens watch
Way back in 2008, I happened upon a watch that I wanted badly. It was during the phase when I became mildly obsessed with royal blue (the dust currently gathering on my royal blue suede 80′s heels is proof that phase didn’t entirely last) and when I saw the Nixon Kensington, with it’s royal blue face and gleaming gold surround I knew it was the one for me. But, alas, I couldn’t justify spending £150 on a watch. Ever since then I thought about that watch on a regular basis. I even Googled it every so often – pathetic I know, like looking up an ex-boyfriend on Facebook or something. Eventually, to my dismay, it was discontinued by Nixon. But then, a couple of weeks ago another idle Google revealed that, lo and behold, a blue and gold Kensington was available, this time a second-hand unworn watch on eBay. With a starting bid of £40 it still wasn’t cheap (that’s right, I’m very frugal when it comes to accessories) and in fact I let it go once because I couldn’t bring myself to place a starting bid that high. Eventually though, one relisted item, seven days and a furious last minute bidding war later, the watch I waited three years for was mine. At £35, that’s a 75% discount. And I love it.

#TodayImWearing an outfit inspired by Coco Chanel

by blondekatie

Stealing that popular, if punctuationally challenged, Twitter hashtag, #TodayImWearing brings you a taste of our personal style whenever we feeling like sharing an outfit.

Today, I like to think I was channeling Coco Chanel. Remember that scene in Coco Before Chanel when she invented a whole new super cool outfit in minutes by chopping up some guy’s riding jacket? Well I took the black silk sash belt from an old dress, tied it as a bowtie and voila, I basically think I’m as cool as Audrey Tatou. Deluded, moi?

Shirt: H&M

Bow tie: silk belt taken from another dress

Jeans: H&M kids department

Boots: Vintage lace-ups from EBay years ago.
