When it comes to high end fashion, I understand the appeal of the ‘investment purchase.’ Spending a few hundred pounds on a classic leather handbag in a neutral colour, for example – a bag that will last a lifetime, go with everything and garner a million compliments. Fair enough, your price-to-wear ratio is going to work out alright in that case. But pyjamas for £1,485? My mind boggles. Admittedly, these Lanvin printed silk pajamas on Net-a-Porter
are cute, what with the tiny kitty cats printed all over and the little silk pouch they come in, but they could hardly be called an investment buy. Unless you’re a professional slumber party planner the fact is that hardly anyone is even going to see them. Heck, you can get a Lanvin dress that can actually be worn outdoors
, where people can see
you, for less – I like this cream draped number
personally. As for those pyjamas, I’m going to file them (along with anyone who has actually purchased a pair) under More Money Than Sense.
