The New York Public Library set the scene yet again yesterday for one of the most highly anticipated Fashion Shows on the NYFW agenda. Victoria Beckham, now a firm favorite on the fashion circuit, revealed her SS13 collection not only to the bevvy of celebrities, esteemed press and international buyers assembled but also to the world, and thanks to her Facebook page, her fans also.
And Victoria was not found wanting. Her SS13 collection was not only pitch perfect (unlike her formative years as a Spicey) but also revealed a progressive confidence to this extremely young label that filtered through in to this season. Separates were offered for the first time, as well as the introduction of more feminine elements such as hints of lingerie-inspired cuts. While the collection retained the label’s sophisticated and simplisctic edge, this is the first time Victoria’s namesake offered a more relaxed update. Elements of Alexander Wang and Carven were definitely hinted at, while she maintained a very clear-cut colour palette of mainly black, white, red and hints of nude whilst Victoria’s long standing friend and collaborator, Christian Louboutin, was on hand to provide the fancy footwear (shock horror, actual flats!). However she made time for the Olympic Ceremony in the midst of all this, and raising 4 children, I’ll never know.
Oh and in other news, Catherine Jenkins has apparently been banned from wearing VB again. Ever.
