As one of the biggest causes of child obesity in the Western World would say, ‘The holidays are comin’ and for me, last Thursday and the grand opening of the ice Rink at the Tower of London really did mark the first day of the Christmas countdown. I know find it acceptable to hear ‘All I want for Christmas’ and even dug out love Actually (and cried within the first 30 seconds, obs) under the cover of late(ish) November.
Although I had been holding out for a trip to Somerset House this year, I must say if you’re a history geek like me, you must pass that up to go Torvill and Dean it up under the gaze of one of London’s most famous and magnificent landmarks. With a fully equipped bar occupying the grounds as well (by equipped, I mean all the mulled wine and bailey’s hot chocolate you can grab without becoming dangerous on the ice) there isn’t really any excuse not to go. With the rink open until January, and tickets from £11, I grantee a spin on the ice will get your Christmas Holiday spirits well and truly up and running.
