You may recall a while back a post on Style & Then Some regarding The Color Run (yes it is still killing me not spelling COLOUR how it should be, but that’s Americanisms for y’all). Well, I am happy to say a week ago (14th July) saw the first UK Color Run hit London in Wembley and roughly eight thousand participants took part. Naturally the UK leg of The Color Run has found itself a perfect sponsorship partner in Dulux (how fitting!) and they even had a Dulux Dog at the starting line to kick proceedings off (insert collective awwwwww).
The run itself is only 5K and organisers actually urge you to not take place if you are a serious runner as this is all about FUN FUN FUN! I spied a few cutie toddlers on scooters and even a guy on crutches. With every kilometre you completed you and everyone around you doused each other in powder paint (naturally a different colour for each K) until you hit the finish line and are all given your own packets to use as you wish. We waited for some perfect photo opportunities while dancing in the ‘festival’ site at the end where DJs were performing and some clever helpers were either hosing people down or air-drying them off for the journey home.
I can totally see why The Color Run has snowballed across America, and now in to Britain and Australia this year. I can’t see it slowing down anytime soon, and guessing next year will double in size. I’ll be there…with additional water pistols this time.
