Style & Then Some

And now, in ugly shoe news: Crocs gets a $200 million bail out. You won’t believe what they want to spend it on.

Sometimes news stories break at the end of the year and their significance can get lost in the post-Christmas pre-New Year mash-up.  That is why I want to draw your attention to a horrific and potentially life-altering story that may have escaped your full attention…

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but: SOMEONE BAILED OUT CROCS.

No, wait, it gets worse…

THEY’RE MAKING A HIGH HEELED VERSION.

If you need more information than this (because you’re a sadomasochist and like to see yourself suffer, I’m guessing) a private equity company has provided Crocs Inc with a US$200 million bail out to allow the purveyors of the world’s most hideous shoes to realise its dream of creating a range of high-heeled Crocs and wedges.  The silver lining (if you can call it that) is that most of the forecasted growth is expected on the Asian market instead of on our high streets.  The ‘fashion-forward’ Crocs will be designed by Stefano Furiani and will not be sold through official Crocs stores but rather on the website zappos.com and other fashion retail outlets.

On the bright side, this gives me the chance to roll out possibly the best Tumblr comment ever written:
