Style & Then Some

Have the first flourishes of Spring got you contemplating your summer wardrobe?

The first flourishes of sunshine always wreak havoc with a UK girl’s wardrobe.  After the unseasonably warm weather we were treated to over the weekend, it was evident from most people’s attire that coats and crop tops aren’t an overly harmonious combination.  This early spurt of springtime is what the British High Street thrives on – as it gets us all in an early mood to start investing in our forthcoming summer wardrobe.

So what are the key items every summer city dweller needs to survive the urban heat this year?  See below for my top three staples:

 The perfect Maxi:

Okay this might not sound groundbreaking, but the maxi dress is yet to go out of fashion thanks to it being a woman’s best fabric friend.  If you’re feeling a little bloated, or can’t be asked to shave you’re legs, here comes the maxi dress like a Band-Aid for all you’re womanly problems! Instant summer magic and works brilliantly with a leather jacket for a grown up grunge look for the evening time:

2. The sensible sandal.

Who ever thought the words Birkenstock and high fashion would be used in the same sentence, eh? Low and be hold, Birkenstocks have all of a sudden become THE sandal for every hipster in town.  It’s worth investing in a decent pair you can run all over the city in safe in the knowledge they wont flip-flop off thanks to the ankle strap.

Birkenstock ASOS 2014

Birkenstock Rio 2 Strap Black Sandals £44.95 and are available from ASOS.

3.  The slinky pant

Having invested in a pair of these last summer, they quickly became one of my favourite items.  No need to iron, and feel relatively breezy, they are perfect for both weekends and can be dressed up for work with a quality blouse.  Throw on some chunky sandals, a loose-fitting tank top and some shades and it’s weekend party time in the sun.

Vero Moda Snakeskin trousers

Snakeskin printed loose pant is £29.95 from Vero Moda.
