Style & Then Some

AW Key Trend: Ankle Boots

Okay, so ankle boots alone aren’t exactly a trend – once autumn rolls around, everyone reaches for their trusty boots-and-black-tights combo.

For a couple of years, I’ve been hunting down boots that do more than keep your feet dry; boots that are as much part of the outfit as any other element, if anything clashing with the rest. Boots that assault the senses, if you will – and this season, the high street is on board.

Key features include tapestry patterns, glitter and sequins, patent and animal print; the higher up the leg, the better. Usually with a chunky four-inch heel, try a track sole if your style is more casual or sporty, working best with a patterned midi skirt and short jacket.

The best thing about ankle boots in general is that they go with everything; skinny, cropped, flare, mini to full length. Because of this versatility, you can get away with more extravagant colours and materials. So this season, put away your black Chelsea boots and jazz up your winter footwear collection with one of these beauties:
